A year abroad, and a house that had to be empty

The situation

He was moving abroad for a year and the house had to be emptied before he went. The furniture was recent and in good condition — a large sectional, a full dining set, occasional tables — the kind of thing that is genuinely worth money and almost never realizes it during a move. The usual options are both bad: a fire-sale weekend that takes pennies on the dollar, or a storage unit that quietly bills every month while you are on another continent and in no position to do anything about it.

What we did

We sold the largest pieces directly out of the house, while there was still a room to photograph them in and a buyer could come and collect. Everything that did not sell before he left was extracted, moved into managed storage under our own inventory, and kept listed — so it went on selling down month after month with him out of the country and nothing required of him. As the unit emptied we closed it out rather than letting it run.

The outcome

The big pieces went first and fastest, within days of listing. The rest sold off over the following months while he was abroad, the storage was cleared and closed, and he kept 85% of every sale. He came home to money instead of a bill and an empty unit he still had to deal with.

We never publish a client's name or address. The photographs are our own catalog shots of the pieces themselves, taken while we inventoried. Every figure below is a real completed sale from our own ledger, linked to the item it belongs to.
