How It Works

Our Charlotte Estate Sale Process

1. Free On-Site Assessment

A VaultXL project lead visits your Charlotte property, walks every room, and identifies items of value. You receive a clear written proposal with estimated recovery, timeline, and flat pricing — not a percentage of your items' value.

2. Sort, Photograph, Price

Our team catalogs every item worth selling. High-demand pieces are researched against recent comparable sales. Photography and pricing happen in-home so nothing is moved or lost.

3. Run the Sale Across the Right Channels

When volume supports it, we run an on-site estate sale — staffed, marketed, signed, and settled. In parallel, we list valuables online across eBay, Shopify, and Etsy for national reach; move furniture and local goods through Facebook Marketplace and Charlotte-area buyer networks; and route specialty pieces to consignment and auction.

4. Clear, Clean, Report

Unsold items are donated with tax-receipt documentation or responsibly disposed of per your plan. You receive a detailed financial summary — every item, where it sold, for how much. The property is returned broom-clean and ready for the next chapter.

Why VaultXL

Why Charlotte Families Choose VaultXL

On-site estate sale PLUS online + local, not either/or

Traditional estate-sale companies do the weekend sale and stop. Pure online companies skip the on-site event. VaultXL runs the on-site sale when it makes sense — and runs Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Shopify, Etsy, consignment, and auction for the items that sell better elsewhere. You get the channel that recovers the most for each item.

Flat 15% commission — you keep 85%

Our revenue comes primarily from the service work (the sorting, cataloging, logistics). The resale commission is a flat 15%. Many traditional estate-sale companies charge 30–45% of your proceeds. Before we list anything, the fee structure is in writing.

Transparent reporting on every item

You get a private client portal where you can see every item cataloged, where it was listed, what it sold for, and your share. No mystery, no lump-sum check at the end of the month.

Licensed, bonded, and insured

VaultXL carries commercial liability insurance and a bond covering the property during the sale. Insurance and bonding details are available on request during consultation.

Charlotte-headquartered, not a franchise

We book every project out of our Charlotte office. Your project lead is a VaultXL employee — not a contractor who rented our logo for the weekend.

FAQ

Charlotte Estate Sale Questions

Traditional estate-sale companies usually run a one or two-day on-site event and donate or dispose of what doesn't sell. VaultXL runs the on-site sale when volume supports it, but also lists items across eBay, Shopify, Etsy, Facebook Marketplace, consignment, and auction — so items that would have been marked down on day two of a traditional sale get the reach they need to recover real value. You keep 85% of everything we sell.

Every project is quoted after a free on-site assessment. VaultXL bills a flat project fee for the service work (sorting, cataloging, staffing the sale, logistics) plus a flat 15% commission on items sold. You receive a written proposal with the full fee breakdown before any work begins.

Most Charlotte estate sales run 2–6 weeks end-to-end: a few days of cataloging and pricing, a weekend of on-site selling when the volume supports it, and 2–4 weeks for online and local listings to run their course. Rush timelines are available for probate and real-estate deadlines.

VaultXL follows a value-first hierarchy: sell, consign, donate with tax-receipt documentation, then responsibly dispose. Items of remaining value are never sent to a landfill. The property is returned broom-clean on the timeline in your proposal.

Yes. Many of our estate clients coordinate entirely remotely. We provide regular photo updates, a client portal with live item tracking, and a single VaultXL project lead as your point of contact. We can also coordinate with probate attorneys, realtors, and out-of-town family members.
