We start with a free in-home walkthrough. The homeowner tells us about the new place: square footage, layout, what is already there, what needs to come. We measure key pieces against the new floor plan and listen to what matters and what does not. A written quote follows before any work begins. From there the work happens in stages. Items the homeowner wants to keep are measured, packed and moved. Items they are done with are photographed, priced and sold through the channels that suit them. Donations go to charities with itemised receipts. Heirlooms meant for adult children are coordinated, packed and shipped to wherever they live.
What we sell returns 85% of the net sale price to the homeowner, after marketplace fees. Designer goods, furniture, oriental rugs, sterling silver and quality household items are researched against completed sales, and we say plainly what looks worth selling and what does not.
Move management vs. a moving company.
A moving company puts your belongings on a truck. We do the work around it: deciding what comes, selling and donating what does not, packing before the mover arrives and unpacking once they have delivered. We are not a moving company and do not pose as one. You book a licensed mover yourself, and we take no fee from any mover.
Moving household goods for pay inside North Carolina takes a certificate from the NC Utilities Commission, and across state lines it takes federal FMCSA authority. We hold neither, so the truck is the one part we leave to you. If the move is out of state, see moving from North Carolina to Florida. When family lives out of town.
Adult children often arrange a parent's move from another city. We send photo updates, share a client portal, and name one project lead for the whole project, so every sibling hears the same thing at the same time. With written authorization we can work from a key or lockbox.
Heirlooms meant for a child's home are packed, photographed and shipped to wherever they live, and we confirm they arrived.
Packing for the move.
Before your mover arrives, every room is packed and labelled and every box goes on an inventory, so nothing is lost between houses. Once the mover has delivered, we unpack, place furniture to the new floor plan and take the packing materials away. Packing can be booked on its own or with the sale and donation work.
