Architectural Salvage · Charlotte, NC

Charlotte's teardowns are full of things worth selling

Older Charlotte houses are coming down or being gutted every week, and the doors, mantels, windows and light fixtures inside them mostly go in a roll-off. VaultXL is based here. We photograph what your crew pulls, list it to Charlotte buyers, and sell it from your warehouse or the job site while the work goes on.

Charlotte's older neighborhoods are where the salvage is: Dilworth and Elizabeth bungalows, Myers Park and Eastover colonials, Fourth Ward Victorians, mill houses in NoDa, Optimist Park and Belmont. Infill building means many of those houses are taken down to the studs or to the slab. What comes out of them is often better made than anything going back in.

Because we are in Charlotte, timing works differently than it does for jobs further away. We can usually walk a site or a warehouse the same week you call, and we come back as new pieces come out rather than waiting for one big batch. When a house is about to come down, tell us early: we will say which pieces are worth taking out whole, and your crew can pull them before demolition instead of after.

The buyers are here too. Charlotte restaurants, breweries and shops in South End and NoDa buy reclaimed doors, pews and lighting for fit-outs. Designers want mantels and stained glass for clients' houses. People restoring a bungalow in Plaza Midwood want a door that matches the five-panel doors already in it. We list each piece where those buyers look, mostly Facebook Marketplace and our own shop, with hardware and lighting also on eBay.

Pieces stay in your warehouse or on site until they sell. Buyers pay in full before a pickup is booked, and pickups fall in windows you set. In Charlotte we can be at the handover ourselves when that suits you better than tying up your yard staff.

Why VaultXL.

Based in Charlotte

We are not a two-hour drive away. We can come back for the next load of pieces without it becoming a separate trip in your quote.

Before the dumpster, not after

The best salvage is lost in the first hour of demolition. Bring us in before then and the pieces worth money come out in one piece.

A neighborhood buyers recognise

A mantel from a 1920s Dilworth bungalow is easier to sell in Charlotte than the same mantel from nowhere in particular. With your permission the listing says where it came from; the owner's name never appears.

A five-star record on Facebook Marketplace

Most Charlotte salvage buyers find pieces on Marketplace and check the seller's rating before they drive over. Your pieces sell under ours.

Frequently asked.

You can sell it yourself on Facebook Marketplace, take an offer from a salvage dealer, or have someone sell it for you. We do the last: we list it, deal with every buyer and arrange pickups from where it is stored. It suits contractors with more pieces than time.

Yes, and that is the best time. Tell us before demolition is scheduled and we will walk the house with you and point out which doors, mantels, windows and fixtures are worth removing carefully. Your crew pulls them; we sell them.

It depends on your contract. On many jobs the homeowner owns what comes out unless the agreement says otherwise. Before we list anything we ask you to confirm you have the right to sell it, with the contract clause or a short written release from the owner.

Not necessarily. Pickups are booked only after the buyer has paid and only into windows you set. Your yard staff can hand over the piece against our pickup confirmation, or in Charlotte we can be there ourselves.

Yes. We sell architectural salvage from across North Carolina, including the Triangle, the Triad and Asheville. See our North Carolina salvage page for how that works.

Every project is quoted in writing after a free walkthrough: a non-refundable setup fee set in your quote, and 15% of what sells after marketplace fees. You keep 85%.
