Sell Before You Move

We sell your furniture out of your own house on the local marketplaces, vet the buyers and handle every pickup — so you move less and pay to store nothing.

How It Works

Most of what people pay to move, they did not want to move. A dresser costs money to carry down the stairs, onto a truck, across a state line and back up another set of stairs — and at the other end it often does not fit the new room anyway. Selling it where it stands turns that cost into cash twice over: you are paid for the piece, and you stop paying to transport and store it. We photograph and research everything in the house, list it on the marketplaces Charlotte buyers actually use, answer every message, screen out the time-wasters, and stand in your hallway on pickup day so the transaction happens safely and the buyer carries their own furniture out to their own vehicle. You keep living normally in the meantime, and by moving day the rooms have emptied themselves.

What this costs

No mystery pricing. No surprise fees.

Pricing:
$100 to start, credited back against your first settlement — then 15% of what sells, you keep 85%
Typical project:
No extraction fee and no storage fee — nothing is moved and nothing is stored
Timeline:
Listings live within about a week; most of a house clears inside 30 days if you have the runway
Service area:
Charlotte and the surrounding metro
Free assessment:
Yes

What the price includes

  • Photography, research and pricing against completed local sales
  • Listing on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, OfferUp and local buy-sell groups
  • Every enquiry answered and every buyer screened before an address is shared
  • Scheduled pickup windows attended in person
  • Payment handling and an itemised settlement statement
  • Donation coordination or extraction for whatever does not sell

What changes the price

  • How many weeks remain before your move — a short runway sells at clearance prices
  • Whether buyers can park and carry items out without stairs or a lift
  • How much of the house is genuinely saleable versus donation or disposal
  • Whether you want pickups concentrated into set windows or spread across the week
  • Anything needing specialist research before it can be priced honestly

Every project is different. Most clients receive a firm project quote after a free property assessment — the figures above are where projects start, not what yours will be.

Who This Is For

People with a move already on the calendar and a house that still has too much in it — relocating for work, downsizing to somewhere smaller, moving in with family, or heading out of state. It suits you particularly well if your timeline is measured in weeks rather than months, if you would rather not pay to move furniture you do not want, and if the idea of running a marketplace listing yourself — the messages, the no-shows, the strangers at the door — is the part you would most like to hand over.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mechanically it is the same channel. The difference is that we do it all day and you do not. We price against what things have actually sold for locally rather than what other people are asking, we write listings that answer the questions before they are asked, and we absorb the volume of messages — most of which go nowhere. We also screen buyers before they are given your address, and we are physically present at pickup. Most people who try this themselves stop not because it does not work, but because of the no-shows and the lowball messages.

Only into the part of it where the item is, only at a time you have agreed, and never while you are on your own. We schedule pickups into set windows rather than letting them happen all week, and we are there for them. If you would rather not have buyers in the house at all, we can extract everything to storage and sell it from there instead — it costs more, and for most people it is not necessary, but it is a genuine option.

A $100 cataloguing fee to start, which is credited straight back against your first settlement — so once anything sells, the cataloguing has cost you nothing. After that we retain 15% of what each item sells for and you keep 85%. There is no extraction fee and no storage fee, because nothing is moved and nothing is stored.

Listings go live within about a week of the walkthrough. Ordinary household furniture in good condition often moves within days; unusual or higher-value pieces need several weeks of exposure to reach the buyer who actually wants them. If you have a month or more before the move, most of a house can clear in that window. If you have two weeks, expect to sell the easy things and make a plan for the rest.

It never becomes a problem you discover on moving day. We tell you honestly, before the deadline, what is not going to sell, and you choose: donation with itemised receipts for your taxes, extraction to storage so it can keep selling after you have gone, or removal and disposal. What we will not do is leave a half-empty house and a shrug.

Usually, and the arithmetic is easy to check. Movers price by weight, so ask yours for their per-pound rate and compare it against what a piece is worth used. A heavy dresser can genuinely cost more to transport than to replace at the other end. Storage is worse, because it is a recurring cost on something that is losing value the whole time it sits there. Selling in place removes both costs and adds the sale price on top.

We work across Charlotte and the surrounding metro — Mecklenburg, plus Union, Cabarrus, Gaston and Iredell counties and York County in South Carolina. Being local matters here: buyers on these marketplaces are searching by distance, and a listing they can reach in twenty minutes sells for more than the same item an hour away.
