How It Works

eBay Consignment · Charlotte

The right buyer for it probably isn't in Charlotte

A vintage receiver, a run of comics, a camera lens or a piece of studio pottery has a buyer somewhere, and eBay is where most of them search. VaultXL lists your things on eBay for you, from Charlotte, and handles the research, photos, questions, packing and shipping.

eBay is still the largest marketplace for used and collectible goods in the US. It suits things that are easy to ship and that people search for by name: collectibles, cameras and audio gear, tools, books, sneakers, pottery and glass, small antiques and branded pieces. A local buyer may offer a fraction of what a collector in another state will pay.

The work is in the listing. eBay buyers search by exact maker, model and part number, and they compare every listing against completed sales. We identify each piece, check what the same item actually sold for, fill in the details eBay asks for, and photograph it from every side, including labels, marks and any wear.

We describe condition plainly and never claim something works unless it has been tested. Where an item can't be tested, the listing says so in plain words and the price reflects it, which keeps returns down and buyers trusting the listing.

When something sells, we pack it properly and ship it, and the buyer pays the postage. eBay's selling fees come out of the sale before our commission is worked out, and the listing comes down everywhere else the same piece was offered.

We work from Charlotte across the surrounding area, including Matthews, Mint Hill, Huntersville, Cornelius, Fort Mill and Rock Hill. Furniture and very large items usually sell better locally, and we route them there.

Why VaultXL.

Priced from sold, not asking

Asking prices on eBay are often wishful. We price from what the same item actually sold for, so listings move instead of sitting.

Honest condition

We say what we know and what we don't. Nothing is called working or tested unless it was, which protects you from returns and disputes.

Packed to arrive

Fragile and heavy items are packed for the trip, not just boxed. Damage in transit costs you the sale.

One item, every channel

The same piece can be on eBay, our own shop and local channels at once. When it sells in one place, it comes down everywhere else.

Frequently asked.

Things people search for by name and that ship easily: collectibles, comics and cards, cameras, audio and electronics, tools, books, sneakers, pottery, glass and small antiques. Everyday furniture and bulky household goods usually do better locally.

We pack and ship from Charlotte, and the buyer pays the postage. Large pieces that can't sensibly ship are offered locally instead.

That's common with estate electronics. We never say an item works unless it has been tested. If it can't be tested, the listing says so and the price reflects it.

Well-priced items in demand often sell within a few weeks; niche pieces can take longer while the right buyer finds them. We review prices against new sales as time goes on.

Yes. An item can be listed on eBay, our own online shop and local channels together, and when it sells on one, we take it down from the rest.

Every project is quoted in writing after a free walkthrough: a non-refundable setup fee set in your quote, and 15% of what sells after marketplace fees, including eBay's. You keep 85%.

What clients say

Real clients, real sales

“What particularly impressed me was his sophisticated approach to consignment. He uses industry-leading tools and market data to determine appropriate pricing and product placement rather than simply guessing at what an item might bring. My two most expensive items were sold quickly, professionally, and securely. Consigning valuable belongings can require a significant amount of trust, and Charles earned mine very quickly.”

“My wife and I simply do not have the time, knowledge, or expertise needed to photograph, list, market, and manage the sale of so many different items. Charles has handled that process for us and provided valuable guidance along the way. Their hands-on approach and personalized service have made what could have been an overwhelming process much more manageable.”
